How to set up a LIMS Instance

  • Set up Apache and PHP, and include support for MySQL
  • Check out the LIMS code at http://wiki.bcf.uthscsa.edu/limsv3/wiki/SubversionInfo
  • Copy the template file to config.php and insert appropriate information
    • The first set of database credentials is for the LIMS database user
    • The "Global DB" credentials are for the local gfac database
    • The "Admin function" credentials are for a couple of admin functions; v1 user should be able to SELECT from all the databases
    • The data_dir is a local data directory that is used for a small number of files; make sure Apache can write to it
    • The submit_dir is where you set up the common data directory
  • The file current_db_list.php contains a list of the current LIMS databases, used by one of the admin programs
